The InSayner is not like any other bike race. It can’t be classified as a road race, a mountain bike race, or a gravel race. It’s its own category of adventure: fire roads, snowmobile trails, gravel, pavement, and a few deer and foot trails, with a climb up Musky Mountain, mud, mosquitoes, deer flies, and creek crossings. The long course is over 50 miles. The short course is a mere 24. The Swarm and the NoSeeUm are the shorter companion races.

It levels the playing field. People who have never raced a bike have finished on the podium while seasoned racers dropped like, well, flies. Pack leaders have seen a bear cross the course. One legendary local laid down in a creek to fix a leg cramp.

The InSayner started in 2021 as the fundraiser for the Musky Mountain trail system, and it still is. The GPS route for volunteers is on Trailforks. Results, classes and photo albums from past years are in the news archive.

The next date and registration link will be posted here and in The Dirt.
